This is an old revision of the document!

Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D -- Randomizer -- Super Hard Run

Using the great OoT3D Randomizer, by gamestabled, you can do randomizer runs on the go! Naturally, I took this as an opportunity to come up with the hardest randomizer I could without it getting TOO ridiculous, like uncoupled entrances, 16x or OHKO damage, or other shit.

I've played quite a bit of Ship of Harkinian and its randomizer, so I wanted to step it up a notch for the next time I play it on Twitch. Here are the bird's eye settings.

The run's seed is 791282372.

The hash, which can be used to recreate the run (I think) is:

  • Frog
  • Slingshot
  • Gold Scale
  • Mushroom
  • Fairy Ocarina

Click here for the Spoiler Log. The only thing I changed was an errant & symbol in the file, which was invalid XML and errored in my browser when I tested to see if the link worked. I ran a sed script to change this & to & instead, and did not read the contents of the file in any way. ZLG does not know what the spoiler file holds within it.

The reason I started this page is because this run has shuffled entrances enabled. This means I'm going to need to form a mental map of how things go together that defies the default game. I want to document my notes and exploration progress here, while readers can enjoy the spoiler file and know what's to come for me.

This is also practice for a future super hard Ship of Harkinian run that I have started broadcasting on Twitch.

So, with the spoiler file out there for people to read, let's begin the run!

Beginning

I started as Young Link at his house, exit, and… it's the back end of the Magic Shop in Kakariko! Whaaaat? This is already off to a crazy beginning. The grotto next to it is a Great Fairy Fountain, and the back of Impa's House leads to Gerudo Valley, where I got my first item at the top of the ladder in the waterfall. Great, a trap that I had never seen, and it cost me 2 hearts right off the bat. Damn. I took the river in the gorge to its destination, which happens to line up with Lake Hylia as it normally does. That's nice, at least.

I decided to check out the fishing hole, and it led to the entrance of Hyrule Castle Town! The guardhouse led to the Shooting Gallery, which I can't play yet, so I headed to the far side of the Entrance, and… the Desert Colossus! What!? This is so nuts, I'm going to generate and publish a diagram of the map, which I'll add to the top of the page when I've formalized a good visualization.

By the time I made it to the Desert Colossus, I was almost dead! This run doesn't have free-falling hearts, so I'm super boned until I can buy a heart or a potion or something. The Spirit Temple's entrance led me to the Lon Lon Stable, so I had to turn aaaallll the way back to Lake Hylia. I explored a bit and managed to find the Kokiri Sword at Lon Lon Ranch, using a Deku Stick I found in Zora's Domain. I have no clue what to make of this game at this point. Without the diagram, I wouldn't be able to keep track of it, haha.

So, by this point I have encountered both the Water Temple and Spirit Temple, but still only have the Kokiri Sword, a golden skull token, and a Deku Stick. Advancing in this one is going to be hard. I think I need to go back to Zora's Domain and explore more.

I explored the Domain, and ended up in some interesting places, eventually coming back to Kakariko Village to explore the rest of its exits, and move onto Hyrule Field, since it has SO many exits. By this time, I have Bombchus, at least 10 Skulltula tokens, and the Song of Storms. I haven't found the Deku Tree yet!
