[[https://lexaloffle.com/pico-8.php|PICO-8]] is a super-cute fantasy console by [[https://www.lexaloffle.com/|Lexaloffle Games]], the maker of //[[https://www.lexaloffle.com/voxatron.php|Voxatron]]// (PICO-8's big brother). The system has a fully integrated game editor built into it, including a sprite editor, sound effect and music tracker, and code editor. Games can be shared via PNG files, webpages, or stand-alone binaries, too. It has an active and enthusiastic community, and sports a small, clean [[https://www.lua.org|Lua]] API to make learning gamedev fun and approachable. It is proprietary software, but encourages collaboration, sharing, and learning.
